Wondering if the app is free to use?
Yes! Although the full range of authors and unlimited messaging are only available to premium subscribers, the app is free to download and use on all eligible devices.
Can I read books directly in the app?
No, this app is not an e-book reader. It is designed for interactive conversations with literary authors based on their public domain writings and documented statements. Any provided quotes are limited to short, fair-use snippets from the public domain.
Why aren't there more modern authors in the app?
The app is currently focused on authors whose works are in the public domain, which typically includes authors who died before 1923. We are working to expand the range of authors in the app over time.
Can I chat in any language?
Yes! The AI chatbots are able to speak and understand almost any language. We are working to expand translations of the interface in the app itself over time. The app currently natively supports English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
What platforms is the app available on?
The app is now available on all popular platforms, including Apple, Android, Mac and PC. You can also use the app directly in your browser on any device.
What are the minimum versions of iOS and macOS supported?
You will need a device running iOS or iPadOS 16 or later, or macOS 13 (Ventura) or later. Make sure to update your device to the latest version of iOS or macOS to ensure the best experience. If you have an older device, you can still use our Web app directly in your browser.
What's the difference between the iOS app and the Web app?
  • The iOS app is a native app that you can download from the App Store. It can be used without any login or account creation.
  • The Web app is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that you can use directly in any supported Web browser, on any device such as PC or Android phones. On mobile phones and many browsers, it can be installed to your device and be used just like a native app. It is currently in beta, and requires you to sign up for an account to use it.
In terms of features, there are no significant differences between the apps. You will have access to the same range of figures and functionality in either app. However, payment for premium subscriptions is handled differently between each platform.
I am a premium user on iOS. Can I use the Web app?
Yes! Since version 2.0 of our Apple app, you can sign up for the same online account that you can use in the Web app. Note that you need to sign up for an account in order to use the Web app, and you will need to use the same credentials that you used for your Apple account. Your subscriptions will carry over between the platforms, and you will have access to the same premium features on both.

Please note that the Mac app currently does not support this feature, but we are working to add it in the future. We suggest using the Web app on your Mac for now if this is important to you.

How do I cancel my subscription on my iPhone or iPad?
You can cancel your subscription at any time by going to the Settings app on your device, tapping your name, then tapping Subscriptions. From there, you can select the "Text With" app subscription and cancel it.
How do I cancel my subscription in the Android / Windows / Web app?
Go to the Preferences page in the app, and click the "Manage Subscription" button. This will take you to the payment portal, where you can manage your subscription.
I do not wish to sign up for another subscription. Can I get premium features without a subscription?
Yes! You can now purchase a lifetime subscription to the app as a single payment, which gives you access to all current and future premium features without the need for a recurring subscription. This option can be purchased from within our mobile apps or from our website.
Are my conversations stored privately?
While we require to store your conversations on our servers to provide the service, we do not share your conversations with any third parties. Your conversations are stored securely and privately. You may also choose to delete all your stored personal data at any time straight from the app.
I would love to chat with a particular figure, but I don't see it in the app. How can I request it?
